Free Child Passenger Safety Seat Check to Take Place in Lake Charles on March 11

Lake Charles, Louisiana – A free child passenger safety seat check will take place in Lake Charles on March 11.

Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop D and the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force will perform free child passenger safety seat checks in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Saturday, March 11, 2023. From 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the event will be held at Lake Charles Toyota, 3905 Gerstner Memorial Boulevard.

Nationally certified child passenger safety seat technicians will inspect child safety seats and assist with correct installation.
When used correctly, child safety seats and booster seats save lives. In the event of a collision, they provide the best protection for children. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States Department of Transportation, the usage of child restraints has saved almost 9,000 lives over the last 30 years (NHTSA). On every trip, caregivers must ensure that children are securely restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and Lake Charles Toyota are supporting this event.

Anyone who is unable to attend but would like to have a child safety seat inspected can contact Louisiana State Police Troop D at 337-491-2513.
