Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Four Baton Rouge men face multiple charges after a violent crime spree ended with a single-vehicle crash on River Road near Dort Street early Sunday morning, according to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety.

The incident began shortly before 5:45 a.m. on September 7, 2025, when officers responded to reports of an overturned Ford Mustang that had struck a light pole. All four occupants exited the vehicle and were immediately detained by responding officers.

During the crash investigation, police discovered the suspects had committed multiple violent crimes in downtown Baton Rouge just minutes before the crash occurred.

Crime Spree Details

The preliminary investigation revealed that before the crash, the suspects approached two victims on South River Road north of Government Street. The group forcibly stole a crossbody bag containing personal items and a 9mm pistol from the victims.

During the robbery, one suspect stole a victim's vehicle and physically assaulted another person who attempted to intervene. The suspect then fled in the stolen vehicle, trapping the original victim in the door and dragging them, which caused injuries to the victim.

The suspect later abandoned the stolen vehicle and entered the Ford Mustang belonging to one of the group members. The four suspects then fled the scene at high speed before losing control and crashing on River Road.

Arrests and Charges

All four suspects were arrested at the crash scene and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The charges vary based on each individual's alleged involvement in the crimes.

Trevon Johnson, 26, of Baton Rouge, faces the most serious charges including hit and run, reckless operation, purse snatching, aggravated battery, and theft of a firearm.

Jayvon Washington, 19, of Baton Rouge, was charged with simple battery.

Johnny Milton, 18, of Baton Rouge, was also charged with simple battery.

Ongoing Investigation

The Louisiana Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the case. Aggravated battery involves assault with a weapon or assault that causes serious bodily injury, while simple battery typically involves less serious physical contact without a weapon.

Police have not released information about whether additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
