St. Martin Parish, Louisiana – On March 10, 2025, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on Interstate 10 near Breaux Bridge. The vehicle, a 2024 Jeep Compass, was partially blocking the roadway, and what began as a routine motorist assist quickly escalated into a significant law enforcement operation.

Upon arrival, troopers engaged with the four occupants of the Jeep and noted signs indicative of drug-related activities. This prompted officers to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle. During this search, law enforcement officials seized approximately 30 grams of marijuana and 100 ounces of promethazine, a prescription medication often misused for recreational purposes.

Subsequently, all four individuals were arrested and transported to the St. Martin Parish Jail. They are facing various charges under Louisiana law, which includes the following:

  • Armonie Roland, 18, the driver of the Jeep, faces charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Schedule I (marijuana), and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Schedule V (promethazine).
  • Jhlon Cabell, also 18, is charged with resisting an officer, possession of a controlled dangerous substance Schedule I, possession of a controlled dangerous substance Schedule V, and has outstanding warrants related to felony theft and fraud in multiple states including Florida, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
  • A 17-year-old minor faces similar charges as Roland and Cabell, specifically for possession of marijuana and promethazine.
  • Kalese Jackson, 18, is charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances, Schedule I and V.

In the wake of these arrests, detectives from the Louisiana State Police Region 2 Criminal Investigations Division, in collaboration with the Milford, Massachusetts Police Department, launched a comprehensive investigation. Their efforts revealed that the suspects were connected to a larger organized crime group responsible for a series of thefts and fraudulent activities across the Northeast United States.

As part of the ongoing investigation, law enforcement obtained a search warrant for the Jeep. The search yielded approximately $5,700 worth of stolen and fraudulently obtained items, including electronics, clothing, gift cards, and bank cards. The evidence collected is set to be transferred to the Milford Police Department to aid in their investigations of related crimes.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
