Four Arrested in Louisiana in Connection with Copper Theft and Other Crimes After Evidence was Found at Their Residences
Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana – Four suspects have been arrested in Louisiana in connection with copper theft and other crimes after evidence was found at their residences.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of four suspects on March 9, 2023, in connection with a string of copper wire thefts recently reported to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) Patrol Division began receiving reports of copper wire theft from several places in the Chauvin, Louisiana, and Montegut, Louisiana areas, prompting a thorough investigation.
On March 8, 2023, soon after 11:00 a.m., the TPSO Patrol Division received another report of a copper wire theft in the 5800 block of Bayouside Dr. Deputies learned of further information through further inquiry, which led to the development of multiple suspects, which linked an address in the 900 block of Aragon Road and an address in the 1300 block of Highway 55 to the investigation.
Detectives from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to assist the Patrol Division, and search warrants were obtained for both residences. Authorities secured search warrants for both properties, which resulted in the finding of criminal evidence at both sites.
During the search warrant on Aragon Road, two suspects were apprehended and questioned, and linked evidence was discovered.
Ultimately, Sherry Ann Dardar, 32, of Montegut, was arrested on charges of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (Felony) for her involvement in the investigation, as well several unrelated arrest warrants.
Grant Joseph LeBoeuf, 27, of Montegut, was arrested on charges of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (Felony) for his involvement in the investigation, as well as several unrelated arrest warrants.
Dardar and LeBoeuf were later arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where Dardar is being held on a $26,000 bond and LeBoeuf is being held on a $55,500 bond by local courts.
Detectives were able to discover two other individuals involved in the inquiry during the course of the investigation, who were identified as Jesse Paul Leblanc, 39, of Montegut, Louisiana, and Jason James Verdin Jr., both of whom were tied to the Highway 55 address.
Jesse Paul Leblanc was approached by authorities as they arrived on Highway 55 for the search warrant. As the search warrant was being carried out, detectives discovered evidence linking Leblanc to the theft investigation, as well as other evidence, leading to the issuance of a subsequent search order for the residence.
Authorities discovered additional evidence in the form of illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm once the search was completed. As the search warrant was being carried out, Detectives made contact with Jason James Verdin Jr., who had arrived at the property.
As the inquiry progressed, detectives discovered fresh evidence of the crime within Verdin’s vehicle. Leblanc and Verdin were apprehended and charged in connection with the inquiry.
Jesse Paul Leblanc was arrested at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on charges of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (Felony), Transactions involving Drug Proceeds, Possession with the Intent to Distribute CDS I, Possession of a CDS IV, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a CDS, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Local judges have kept Leblanc in jail on a $75,000 bond.
Jason James Verdin Jr. was also arrested in the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on Felony Theft charges, as well as an unrelated arrest warrant, and is being held on a $62,000 bond by local judges.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet expressed his gratitude to the TPSO Patrol and Investigation Divisions for their exceptional work in this investigation, which concluded various investigations in the Montegut region. According to Sheriff Soignet, “These types of cases can be very detailed and I am extremely proud of the men and women of our agency who continuously go above and beyond for the safety of our community.”
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
