Former Postal Worker in Louisiana Sentenced for Stealing Items From the Mail She was Processing

New Orleans, Louisiana – A former postal worker in Louisiana has been sentenced for stealing items from the mail she was processing.

On March 17, 2023, U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans, announced that Keishan Wilson, age 38, of New Orleans, Louisiana was sentenced on March 16, 2023, by the Honorable Eldon E. Fallon, U.S. District Judge, Eastern District of Louisiana, for stealing items from the mail she was entrusted to handle as a postal employee.

According to court filings, Keishan Wilson was working as a mail processor for the United States Postal Service in New Orleans when she was caught removing things from the mail that she was entrusted to handle. The defendant received a five-year probation term. She was also ordered to pay restitution as well as a $100 special assessment fee.

The restitution hearing has been scheduled for June 8, 2023.

U.S. Attorney Evans thanked the Office of the Inspector General of the United States Postal Service for its diligence in investigating this situation. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Richard R. Pickens, II of the Financial Crimes Unit.
