Former Mayor in Louisiana Arrested for Allegedly Falsifying Community Service Reports While in Office

Lafourche Parish, Louisiana – A former mayor in Louisiana has been arrested for allegedly falsifying community service reports while he was in office.

On March 21, 2023, Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a former Lockport, Louisiana mayor Edward Reinhardt, 73 for allegedly falsifying community service reports while in office. Reinhardt was arrested on Tuesday.

Deputies discovered Reinhardt reportedly fabricated community service documents for many persons beginning in 2019, according to authorities. Reinhardt allegedly signed documentation certifying that court-ordered community service hours were completed for people who had not completed all or any of the hours.

Deputies secured a warrant for Reinhardt’s arrest after conducting an investigation into the matter.

Reinhardt was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux, Louisiana on March 21, 2023. He was charged with malfeasance in office. Bail is set at $25,000.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
