DeRidder, Louisiana – The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office asked the Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit on July 26, 2024, to look into accusations of sexual activity with a minor against the ex-Mayor of DeRidder, Louisiana. As a result of the investigation, Misty Roberts, who is 42 years old, was taken into custody.

As the investigation continued, LSP SVU interviewed two minors, one of whom was the victim. Both young individuals stated that Roberts engaged in sexual intercourse with one of the juvenile victims while serving as Mayor. Investigators acquired a warrant for Roberts’ arrest from the Beauregard Parish 36th Judicial District Court.

Roberts willingly surrendered to authorities on August 1, 2024, without any issues. She was arrested and taken to Beauregard Parish Detention Center for third degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.

This case remains under investigation.

LSP SVU is dedicated to rescuing and obtaining justice for victims of crimes that exploit children and traffick humans for sex or labor. This is achieved through collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies for investigations, as well as through public education efforts. It is essential for the community to assist in identifying individuals who are accused of these crimes by reporting any criminal or suspicious activity they may observe. The Louisiana State Police provides an online reporting system accessible to the public where individuals can anonymously submit information to investigators. You can access the form by going to http://la-safe.org/ and selecting the link for “Suspicious Activity.”

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
