Florida Resident Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash in Louisiana on I-12 in St. Tammany Parish

St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana – A Florida resident was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.

Louisiana State Police has reported that on July 8, 2023, just before 3:15 p.m., Troop L investigated a three-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 12 near LA Hwy 1077 in St. Tammany Parish. Tragically, the crash resulted in the death of Silver Angel, a 37-year-old resident of St. Petersburg, Florida.

According to the initial investigation, a 2007 Jeep Liberty and a 2022 Volkswagen Jetta were both traveling westbound on Interstate 12. The Jeep was in the right lane and the Volkswagen was in the left lane. It is still not clear why, but the Jeep crossed into the left lane and collided with the Volkswagen. As a result of the collision, the Volkswagen veered out of the travel lanes and crashed into a parked 2023 International 18-wheeler on the right shoulder. The Jeep, on the other hand, went off the road to the left and collided with the cable barrier.

Even though Angel was wearing a seatbelt, they tragically passed away due to the accident. Angel was declared dead at the site of the crash. Both the drivers of the Jeep and the International were wearing their seatbelts and did not suffer any injuries. It is not believed that alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. Samples were taken from all drivers to check for any substances. The investigation is ongoing and charges are yet to be determined.

Troopers are reminding drivers to consistently make wise choices when operating a vehicle. It is crucial to avoid driving under the influence, when tired, or while distracted. Furthermore, it is important to abide by all traffic regulations and ensure that all passengers are appropriately secured. While some accidents may not be avoidable, implementing these basic precautions can frequently determine whether someone lives or dies.
