Florida Man Sentenced in Federal Court in Louisiana to 9 Years for Possession With Intent to Distribute a Quantity of Methamphetamine

New Orleans, Louisiana – A Florida man has been sentenced in a federal court in Louisiana to nine years in prison for possession with intent to distribute a quantity of methamphetamine.

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, that Dante Bowman, age 23, a resident of Florida, was sentenced in a federal court in Louisiana to 108 months (9 years) imprisonment, 3 years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee by U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo, after pleading guilty to a one-count indictment which charged him with possession with the intent to distribute five hundred grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(A).

According to court filings, law enforcement authorities discovered around 3.1 pounds of methamphetamine in secured canvas bags placed in the spare tire compartment of a vehicle rented by Bowman following a traffic stop on Interstate-10.

Homeland Security Investigations and the Louisiana State Police investigated this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman of the Narcotics Section handled the prosecution.
