Florida Man Arrested for Allegedly Sending Explicit Videos to Minors in Calcasieu Parish

Calcasieu, Louisiana - On February 19, detectives from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report concerning allegations of indecent behavior involving minors. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that 25-year-old Dawson C. Hassell, a resident of Florida, had transmitted an inappropriate sexually explicit video to several juveniles in Calcasieu Parish through social media platforms.

The affected individuals were between the ages of 12 and 16.

Following an extensive investigation, a warrant for Hassell’s arrest was issued on July 15, signed by Judge Tony Fazzio. With the cooperation of law enforcement authorities in Florida, Hassell was located in Sarasota County on July 17. He was subsequently extradited to Calcasieu Parish on July 29.

Hassell has been booked at the Calcasieu Correctional Center, facing six counts of indecent behavior with juveniles. His bond has been established at $350,000.

Detective Sonny Schiro from the CPSO Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation into this matter.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
