Westlake, Louisiana – Flooding in Westlake, Louisiana, covered some roadways as heavy thunderstorms dumped nearly six inches of rain before 1PM in the area on June 13. The severe weather conditions have led to widespread flooding, with Sampson Street being particularly affected. A video captured by Christine Wyninger shows the extent of the flooding near Whitney Bank and Popeye’s, where multiple vehicles were seen driving through the water, with some stalling or stopping along the way.

The flooding in Westlake is part of a broader issue affecting Southwest Louisiana, where several days of rainfall have saturated the soils. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Flood Warning for Calcasieu Parish, due to the potential for rapid onset flooding from widespread showers and thunderstorms.
