Fire Investigators in Louisiana Asking For Help From the Public in Identifying Person Suspected of Setting Fire that Destroyed 3 Businesses
East Carroll Parish, Louisiana – Investigators in Louisiana are asking for help from the public in identifying a person suspected of setting a fire that destroyed three businesses.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office (LASFM) revealed on May 11, 2023, that it is actively seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection with a commercial structure fire near Lake Providence that burned three businesses more than a year ago.
The Lake Providence Fire Department responded to a fire report in the 200 block of Lake Street around 1:45 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022. A large commercial structure that housed three separate businesses was destroyed by fire.
During an investigation, deputies found that the fire started at the back of the Glass House Bar. Deputies believed the fire was intentionally lit after considerable investigation, including the acquisition of video footage, and are now looking for a male suspect in the case.
Authorities indicated that a figure with a slim build can be seen entering the Glass House Bar’s back door in the attached security video. The same person exits the structure seven minutes later. Within two minutes, smoke begins to seep out of the building, indicating a fire.
The suspect appeared to be dressed in dark attire and was last spotted going south down US Highway 65. It is uncertain whether the suspect eventually left the area in a vehicle.
Authorities are asking that anyone with information on this person’s name or whereabouts is asked to call the LASFM Arson Hotline at 1-844-954-1221 or fill out the LASFM online tip form at lasfm.org.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
