The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) have released a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge Improvements Project (H.003931). This FEIS was developed in accordance with relevant federal laws, regulations, and executive orders, such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) (42 United States Code [U.S.C.] Section 4332 (2) (C)) and 49 U.S.C. 303.

The Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) examines various options for the development project for the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge, which stretches across a nine-mile expanse of Interstate 10 (I-10), moving from I-10/Interstate 210 (I-210) west to I-10/I-210 east junctions in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is the primary federal entity involved, under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) is the state body in charge of the project, with additional support from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). In the project's Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), a No-Build Alternative and three Build Alternatives were assessed, with a preferred choice identified in the DEIS.

The Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) is open for the public to examine and provide feedback at the locations mentioned below:

  • The Sulphur Regional Library is located at 1160 Cypress Street, Sulphur, LA 70663.

The Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) incorporates updates and rectifications to the Preliminary Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) that was put forth for examination in November 2022. Reactions to feedback from both the public and authoritative bodies concerning the DEIS, as well as the public assembly held on December 13, 2022, are documented in Appendix A of the FEIS.

The final environmental impact statement (FEIS) is open for public comments for 30 days until October 30, 2023. Any written feedback received or marked by this date will be included in the official project log. Relevant remarks will receive a response in the Record of Decision (ROD).
