Sulphur, Louisiana – On January 23, 2025, shortly before 1:00 p.m., a fatal crash occurred on Louisiana Highway 27, just north of Louisiana Highway 379, resulting in the death of 50-year-old Walter Clinton from Leesville. Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D were dispatched to the scene of this tragic incident, which involved a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Clinton was riding his 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on LA Hwy 27. Concurrently, a 2018 Dodge Charger was traveling in the opposite direction, heading north. For reasons that remain unclear and are still under investigation, Clinton’s motorcycle crossed the center line into the northbound lane, where it collided head-on with the Dodge Charger.
Despite wearing a Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved helmet at the time of the incident, Clinton sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Dodge Charger, who were all wearing seatbelts—a requirement in Louisiana—suffered only minor injuries, with the driver being the most affected.
As part of standard procedure, toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and will be analyzed to determine if substances may have played a role in the crash. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing, and authorities are working to piece together the events that led to this tragic outcome.
