Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Westlake Being Investigated by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office

Early on the morning of March 13, 2020, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call near the area of Miller Avenue and Smith Ferry Road in Westlake in reference to a motorcycle accident.

The investigation revealed the driver of the motorcycle, David A. Pitt, 40, Westlake, was traveling southbound on Miller Ave. when he lost control while attempting to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle traveled off the roadway into the ditch. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Pitt was wearing a helmet.

As mandated by state law, toxicology testing will be performed.
