Fatal Louisiana Interstate-10 Truck Crash Near Iowa Kills Two Commercial Vehicle Occupants

Iowa, Louisiana – Two people died Tuesday morning when their commercial truck crashed and caught fire on Interstate-10 East near Iowa, Louisiana, according to state police.

Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating the single-vehicle crash just before 8 a.m. on September 9, 2025, near Louisiana Highway 383. The crash involved a Kenworth commercial motor vehicle (CMV) traveling eastbound on the interstate.

Preliminary investigations show the commercial truck began traveling off the roadway to the right for unknown reasons. The vehicle then struck a group of trees and became engulfed in flames, according to the Louisiana State Police report.

Both occupants of the commercial motor vehicle sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet identified the victims and are working to notify their next of kin.

The crash closed all lanes on I-10 eastbound for several hours.

The crash remains under active investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop D. Authorities have not released information about what may have caused the driver to leave the roadway.

Commercial motor vehicles are large trucks, buses, or other vehicles used for business purposes that require special licensing to operate. These vehicles are subject to federal safety regulations due to their size and weight.

Louisiana State Police are asking anyone with information about the occupants of the commercial vehicle to contact Troop D at (337) 491-2511. The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
