Port Allen, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday morning in West Baton Rouge Parish, claiming the life of an 80-year-old Port Allen woman.
The fatal incident took place at approximately 9:10 a.m. on October 6, 2025, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 190 and Louisiana Highway 983. Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to the scene to investigate what they classified as a serious injury crash.
Janet Tchorlian, 80, of Port Allen, was identified as the victim who died from injuries sustained in the collision. According to the preliminary investigation conducted by state police, Tchorlian was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Trax southbound on Louisiana Highway 983, approaching the intersection with U.S. Highway 190.
At the same time, the driver of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 190, approaching the same intersection. Investigators determined that Tchorlian failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the intersection, placing her vehicle directly in the path of the oncoming Silverado.
The Silverado struck the Trax on the driver’s side, causing severe damage and serious injuries to Tchorlian. Despite being properly restrained with a seatbelt, the 80-year-old sustained critical injuries in the collision.
Emergency medical personnel transported Tchorlian to a local hospital for treatment. However, she later died from her injuries at the medical facility. The driver of the Silverado, who was also properly restrained, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
As part of standard protocol for serious motor vehicle crashes, Louisiana State Police performed routine toxicology tests on both drivers involved in the incident. These tests help investigators determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
