East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on LA 67 at Lemon Road, resulting in the death of a Baton Rouge resident. The incident happened in the early morning hours when a 2013 Toyota Highlander, driven by 25-year-old Alexus Lee, exited the roadway for unknown reasons.

According to the preliminary investigation by Troop A, Lee was traveling northbound on LA 67 when the vehicle left the left side of the roadway. The Toyota struck a culvert and then overturned. Lee, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

At this stage, law enforcement officials have not determined whether impairment was a factor in the crash. As part of standard procedure in fatal incidents, a routine toxicology sample was collected from the driver and will be analyzed to check for the presence of alcohol or drugs.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. Louisiana State Police emphasize the importance of wearing seatbelts, which are proven to reduce the risk of serious injury or death in motor vehicle crashes.
