Lincoln Parish, Louisiana – Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F initiated an investigation into a fatal crash on I-20, east of LA 33, on Thursday, November 02, 2023. The incident occurred just before 6:00 p.m. and involved a single vehicle. Tragically, the crash claimed the life of Blanca Broadway, a 36-year-old resident of Ruston, Louisiana.

Initial findings indicate that Broadway was driving a 2017 Mazda 6 traveling east on I-20 when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road and collided with a tree. Despite being properly restrained at the time of the crash, Broadway sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

While LSP indicated that impairment was not suspected in the crash, routine toxicology samples were taken for further analysis. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Louisiana State Police asks that all motorists prioritize safety by reducing speed, wearing seat belts, and minimizing distractions while driving. It is crucial to remember that crashes do not discriminate based on identity or vehicle type; higher speeds significantly increase the risk of severe harm or loss of life while neglecting seat belt usage amplifies this danger even further.

So far in 2023, troop F has investigated a total of 35 fatal crashes resulting in 43 fatalities.
