Louisiana - A significant disruption has hit Meta's suite of social media applications, with users worldwide reporting issues accessing Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. As of 12:30 PM on December 11, 2024, the online outage reporting website Downdetector showed a sharp spike in reported outages for these services.

Due to this incident, some of our social media accounts on Meta's platforms may be temporarily unavailable.

The cause of the outage has not been officially disclosed by Meta, the parent company of the affected platforms. However, users have taken to other social media networks, including Bluesky and X, to share their experiences and frustrations.

Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages in real-time, relies on user reports to identify disruptions. The significant spike in reported outages suggests a widespread issue, affecting users across the globe.

While some users have reported intermittent access to the affected platforms, many others have been unable to access them altogether.

As the situation continues to unfold, Meta has not provided an official statement on the cause or expected duration of the outage.
