Facebook and Instagram Outage

Many Facebook users are reporting that they are unable to make posts, comments, and view status updates from friends. The photo-sharing service Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, is also experiencing similar issues. Users are also experiencing issues with some apps and websites that use the Facebook API to display information or allow users to log-in to accounts. There have also been reports that some users of the WhatsApp messaging app are having issues as well.

The outage has reportedly been affecting users since around 11 a.m. Central Time. A representative from Facebook confirmed the outages in an email that stated “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.” No timeframe was given and the outage appears to be widespread according to several tweets on Twitter from user around the world.
