Lake Charles, Louisiana – On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the City of Lake Charles, in collaboration with Sasol’s Nature in Focus Initiative, will host a free event titled “Wings of Wonder and All Things Birds.” Scheduled to run from 10 am to noon at Tuten Park, located at 3801 Nelson Rd., this event promises a hands-on educational experience for all attendees.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to engage with a live, interactive bird exhibit. This exhibit aims to educate the public about various bird species, their behaviors, and their habitats, providing a deeper understanding of these fascinating creatures. The educational aspect is designed to be both informative and engaging, ensuring that visitors of all ages can benefit.

In addition to the bird exhibit, the event will feature a special edition of “Art in the Park.” The City of Lake Charles will supply easels and art materials, while artists from the Imperial Calcasieu Museum’s Residency at the Museum Program will offer art instruction. This segment allows attendees to express their creativity while being inspired by the natural beauty of the park and its avian inhabitants.

This free event is open to the public, emphasizing community engagement and environmental education. It is hosted in partnership with Sasol, the Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists, and the Imperial Calcasieu Museum. The initiative falls under Sasol’s Nature in Focus program, which is a signature program of the company, and the City’s Partners in Parks Initiative.
