Sulphur, Louisiana – On July 26, 2024, Judge Robert Wyatt handed down a life sentence to Erron E. Fontenot, 24, of Sulphur, Louisiana, for the Second Degree Murder of a victim who was shot in the head and later pronounced deceased at a hospital in 2023.

District Attorney Stephen Dwight expressed satisfaction with the verdict, stating, “I am happy that justice was served today. This defendant showed no remorse for taking a life and he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison.” Dwight extended his condolences to the victim’s family, hoping that the sentencing would provide them with some closure. He also commended his team, saying, “I’m proud of our team for the way they prosecuted this case; there is now one less dangerous criminal on the streets of our Parish.”

Assistant District Attorneys Joey Williams and Jordan Sutterfield prosecuted the case for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office, securing a conviction that ensures Fontenot will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
