Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles has announced that a portion of Enterprise Boulevard will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic starting Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 8 am. The closure will affect both north and southbound lanes between 2nd and 4th Streets and is expected to last until 8 am on Monday, September 2, 2024, weather permitting.

This closure is part of the ongoing Enterprise Boulevard drainage improvement and road overlay project, dubbed “Capital Project No. 3277 – Enterprise Blvd. Reconstruction – 12th St. to Broad St.” The multi-year project aims to bring much-needed improvements to the area, including enhanced drainage, sidewalk upgrades, and a complete reconstruction and overlay of the road.

During the closure, local traffic will still be allowed access to the area, but through traffic is strongly encouraged to use 1st Avenue as a detour. The city has provided detailed detour maps to help navigate the alternative route.

Work on the project began in August 2023 with the construction of a drainage outfall on 1st Street, between Enterprise Boulevard and 1st Avenue. The city is committed to keeping residents and nearby property owners informed about the project’s progress. Those with questions or seeking regular updates can email [email protected] to receive project news directly to their inbox.

The city is urging motorists to plan ahead and allow extra time for their commutes during the closure. By doing so, the city hopes to minimize disruptions and ensure a smooth completion of the project.
