DeQuincy, Louisiana – DeQuincy’s Dickens in DeQuincy Christmas Weekend is set to take place on December 6 and 7, offering a unique blend of Victorian-era charm and modern festivities. Organized by the Greater City of DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce, this inaugural event promises to be a fun-filled celebration for the whole family.
On Friday, December 6, the festivities will kick off with the lighting of the Christmas tree at 5:30 pm at Pocket Park. This will be followed by a fireworks display at 6:30 pm at the Dixie Youth Fields. Visitors can then enjoy train rides, concessions, hot chocolate, and a movie at the Walking Path.
The following day, Saturday, December 7, will see a bustling farmers market at the Museum from 9 am to 2 pm. A parade will take place at 11 am, and entertainment will follow on the Museum Stage. To add to the Victorian theme, organizers are encouraging attendees to dress up in Charles Dickens-inspired costumes. A costume contest will be held at 1:30 pm at the Museum Stage, with prizes to be awarded for the best outfits.
