Detectives in Louisiana Trying to Identify Person Who Shot and Killed 19-Year-Old in St John the Baptist Parish, Asking for Help From the Public

St John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana – Detectives in Louisiana are trying to identify the person who shot and killed a 19-year-old in St John the Baptist Parish and are asking for help from the public.

On March 3, 2023, the St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that detectives are looking into a shooting in Garyville, Louisiana that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Javant Dunn, of Greensburg, Louisiana.

According to reports from authorities, deputies responded to a call in the 200 block of South Emilie Street in Garyville on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at around 3:30 a.m., regarding an unresponsive man lying on the ground outside a residence.

Officers arrived to find the male subject, identified as Dunn, with gunshot wounds to the body. The coroner’s office pronounced Dunn deceased at the scene.

At the time this was published, authorities indicated that no motive was known.
