DeQuincy, Louisiana – The City of DeQuincy has recently announced significant changes to its waste management policies, aiming to streamline the collection process and promote responsible waste disposal. Effective immediately, residents must adhere to the new guidelines to avoid fines and ensure seamless waste collection.

Key Changes to Waste Collection

Residents are now required to schedule bulk item, yard waste, and white goods pickups with city employees by calling 337-786-8241, Monday through Thursday, between 8 am and 4 pm. This marks a departure from the previous practice of residents independently dropping off these items at the City Barn. Furthermore, dumping any waste at the City Barn is strictly prohibited and may result in a fine of $200.

Waste Management, the city’s contracted waste collection provider, will only collect waste from their designated carts. Residents who currently use Republic carts are advised to contact City Hall to arrange for an exchange. For those requiring additional carts, Waste Management offers these for purchase at a cost of $75 by calling 1-800-423-1250.

Compliance and Responsibility

As the city navigates these changes, residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the updated procedures and take advantage of the resources provided. By working together, the community can ensure a successful transition to the new waste management system.
