Deputy-Involved Shooting Being Investigated in Louisiana After Driver Allegedly Strikes Deputy with Vehicle
Louisiana – Louisiana State Police (LSP) reported that detectives with the LSP Bureau of Investigation were requested by the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office to investigate a deputy-involved shooting, which occurred on Payne Road in Ethel, Louisiana.
One subject was shot and one deputy has been injured.
The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 7:30 p.m., a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a Honda Accord. According to authorities, during the stop, the vehicle struck the deputy. In response, the deputy discharged his service weapon, striking the driver.
Both the driver and the deputy were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their minor to moderate injuries.

Louisiana State Police is the lead investigating agency into this deputy-involved shooting. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Louisiana State Police indicated that further information will be released as it becomes available.
A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
