Deputies in Louisiana Arrest Jennings Man For Alleged Possession of a Stolen Firearm During Traffic Stop

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – Deputies in Louisiana arrested a Jennings man for the alleged possession of a stolen firearm during a traffic stop.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office stated on June 19, 2023, that on June 18, at 11:30 p.m., Deputies were patrolling the vicinity of Howard Street and Merry Street in Jennings, Louisiana.

During the patrol, deputies reportedly spotted an older white Chevrolet pickup heading northbound on Merry Street fail to stop at the junction of Merry Street and Howard Street. The vehicle was eventually stopped on West Plaquemine Street.

Deputies gained permission to search the vehicle during the stop. A stolen firearm was discovered during the search.

Eugene Ivory, 57, of Jennings, Louisiana was arrested and placed in the parish jail for illegal possession of a stolen firearm and failure to stop at a stop sign.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
