Dense Fog Advisory Issued for Southwest Louisiana for the Night of December 7 into the Morning of December 8

Lake Charles, Louisiana – On Wednesday, December 7, 2022, the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, Louisiana issued a Dense Fog Advisory for Southwest Louisiana beginning at 9 pm Wednesday until 10 am Thursday Morning.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for the entire area, as well as the near-shore Gulf waters, lakes, and bays. This dense fog advisory will be in effect from 9 p.m. CST Wednesday until 10 a.m. CST Thursday. Fog will form and become dense, with visibility ranging from less than 1/4 mile to near zero at times. This will create hazardous driving and boating conditions. If you must travel on area roads or waterways, use caution.

Dense fog is expected tonight through Thursday early.
South winds will continue to bring in unseasonably warm and damp air into the region. Fog will emerge this evening and expand overnight as winds continue to weaken and temperatures dip. The overall visibility will be less than a quarter mile and, at times, approaching zero.

As a result, a dense fog advisory will be in effect from 9 p.m. CST Wednesday until 10 a.m. CST Thursday. This will comprise all of southeast Texas, central, south-central, and southwest Louisiana, as well as the near-shore coastal waterways, lakes, and bays.

Drivers should exercise extra caution when traveling on nearby roads and waterways.
