Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting on 7th Street in Lake Charles Being Investigated by Louisiana State Police

Lake Charles, Louisiana – On October 14, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that on October 13, 2022, detectives assigned to the LSP Bureau of Investigations were requested by the Lake Charles Police Department to investigate a deadly officer-involved shooting in the 1800 block of 7th Street.

According to the preliminary investigation, officers with the Lake Charles Police Department (LCPD) responded to a call of a suspicious male individual at a home in the 1800 Block of 7th Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Officers from the LCPD made contact with the individual, and at one point, an LCPD officer fired multiple shots. When the individual went back into the house, LCPD SWAT officers arrived and finally deployed a robot.

The robot entered the house and discovered the deceased individual. SWAT officers from the LCPD then entered the house and discovered two more deceased adults. The Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office came to the area and determined that the two people appeared to have died a few days before the officer-involved shooting.

The Louisiana State Police is leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting, and the LCPD is looking into the deaths of the two adults. The Lake Charles Police Department’s Crime Lab responded and is aiding with the investigation.

During the event, no officers were hurt.
