Deadly Louisiana Pedestrian-Vehicle Collision in Avoyelles Parish Leaves Man Dead, Investigation Underway

Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Troop E arrived at the scene of a deadly crash on April 11, 2024, around 10:00 p.m. The crash occurred at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 1 and Beauregard Landry Road, resulting in the tragic death of Ricky Augustine, a 45-year-old resident of Marksville, Louisiana.

The first examination showed that Augustine was hit by a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Equinox while walking on the road. Augustine suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead.

The results of routine toxicology tests are still awaited, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Louisiana State Police says that pedestrians should wear bright or light-colored clothing and reflective materials to ensure they are visible to drivers. It is recommended to walk on a sidewalk, but if one is not available, pedestrians should walk on the side of the road facing traffic. At night, pedestrians should also carry a flashlight for extra safety.

So far in 2024, Troop E Louisiana State Troopers have investigated 20 deadly crashes that led to 22 deaths.
