Westlake, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury announced a temporary road closure in Westlake scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, as crews work to repair damaged asphalt at an intersection.
Davis Road at the intersection of Dalton Road will be completely closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday while construction crews asphalt a section of damaged roadway, according to the police jury announcement.
The closure will require drivers to use alternate routes around the construction zone. Officials have established detour routes to minimize traffic disruption in the area.
Northbound traffic will be redirected to Hudson Drive, then to Westwood Road to bypass the closed intersection. Southbound drivers should use Phillips Road, also known as Highway 378, before connecting to Westwood Road to continue their journey.
The police jury cautioned drivers to expect delays throughout the construction period and urged motorists to exercise additional caution when traveling through the detour areas. Construction zones and detour routes often experience heavier than normal traffic volumes, which can lead to slower travel times.
Road closures for asphalt work typically require complete traffic restrictions to ensure worker safety and allow crews to properly complete repairs.
The repair work is to address damaged roadway conditions at the intersection.
Drivers who regularly use Davis Road should plan alternate routes or allow extra travel time when navigating the area during the construction window.
