Crash Near Sulphur Takes the Lives of Two Local Residents on September 12

According to Louisiana State Police, on September 12, 2019, around 8:00 pm a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of LA 108 and LA 27 in Carlyss took the lives of two Sulphur residents.
An investigation by LSP indicated that a 2019 Kia Rio with two occupants was driving east on LA 108 when the driver failed to yield while making a left turn onto LA 27. The Kia was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was driving westbound on LA 108.
The crash resulted in the death of both occupants of the Kia Rio, driver 43-year-old Billy Cornes, and passenger, 36-year-old Danielle Cornes, both of Sulphur. The driver of the F-150 sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Routine toxicology samples were taken from both drivers, and the crash is was still under investigation at the time this was published.
