Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – A 61-year-old convicted sex offender, Gregory E. Ballard, has been charged with molestation of a juvenile in Calcasieu Parish. The charges stem from an investigation launched by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) after receiving a report from the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office in August.

According to the detectives, the victim alleged that Ballard had sexually abused them on multiple occasions, starting when they were approximately 15 years old. The abuse reportedly spanned several years. After further investigation, a warrant for Ballard’s arrest was issued on September 30, signed by Judge Bobby Holmes.

Ballard, who is currently incarcerated in the Allen Parish Jail on separate charges, has a history of sex-related convictions. In 1985, he was convicted of indecent behavior with a juvenile, followed by a conviction of aggravated oral sexual battery in 1988, and another conviction of indecent behavior with a juvenile in 1996, all in Calcasieu Parish.

Ballard’s bond has been set at $500,000. The investigation, led by CPSO SVU Detective Cory Myers, is ongoing.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
