Congressman Higgins of Louisiana Announces Nearly $3 Million in Funding For Coastal Restoration Efforts In Cameron Parish

Louisiana / Washington, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins of Louisiana announced on September 19, 2022, that the US Department of Treasury’s Office of Gulf Coast Restoration has awarded the Rockefeller Refuge Gulf Shoreline Stabilization project $2,994,006.60.

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury will receive $2,116,894.60 to expand the project westward and add 0.3 miles of rock breakwaters. Cameron Parish will be the project’s sub-recipient and will complete the project’s scope of work. Cameron Parish will also get $877,112.00 to help decrease beach erosion along 6,000 feet of coastline.

Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:

“This shoreline stabilization project will help protect portions of the coast in Cameron Parish. I have always supported fiscally responsible investments in coastal restoration and mitigation. My office will continue to support these efforts in Congress.”
