City of Lake Charles Memorial Day 2024: Trash Pickup Schedule Changes and Public Works Closure

Lake Charles, Louisiana – In observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, 2024, the City of Lake Charles has announced important changes to trash and garbage pickup schedules and the closure of certain public works services. Lake Charles City Hall will be closed on this day, and there will be no trash or garbage collection services.

Trash and garbage collection adjustments are as follows:

  • Trash and garbage normally picked up on Monday will now be collected on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
  • Trash and garbage typically collected on Tuesday will now be picked up on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
  • Thursday and Friday routes will maintain their regular collection schedules.

Furthermore, the Department of Public Works will close all services, including Recycling Operations at Nelson Ball Field/Alma Lane and the Roving Green Truck, along with the Incinerator on Monday, May 27, 2024. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Residents are reminded to place containers and items for removal before 7 a.m. on the designated collection day or the evening before. Containers should be cleared by 7 p.m. on the same collection day. It is the responsibility of property owners, occupants, tenants, and others to clean up any spills from the containers.
