Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles has announced an upcoming road closure that will affect traffic on Enterprise Boulevard. As part of the ongoing Enterprise Boulevard drainage improvement and road overlay project, both north and southbound lanes of Enterprise Boulevard, between 3rd and 5th Streets, will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic starting at 8 am on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

The closure is expected to last until 8 am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, weather permitting. This phase of the project is part of the larger “Capital Project No. 3277 – Enterprise Blvd. Reconstruction – 12th St. to Broad St.,” a multi-year initiative that includes drainage and sidewalk improvements, as well as reconstruction and overlay of the road.

While local traffic will be allowed access to the affected area, through traffic is highly encouraged to use 1st Avenue as a detour. To help navigate the closure, residents can view attached detour maps or plan their route in advance.

The Enterprise Boulevard project began in August 2023 with the construction of a drainage outfall on 1st Street, between Enterprise Boulevard and 1st Avenue. This project aims to improve the overall infrastructure and safety of the area.
