Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles is gearing up for the Thanksgiving holiday, which will be observed on Thursday, November 28, 2024. In preparation for the holiday, the city has announced changes to the trash and garbage pickup schedule.
Residents who normally have their trash and garbage picked up on Thursdays will see a one-day delay, with pickup rescheduled for Friday, November 29, 2024. Those who typically have their trash and garbage collected on Fridays will experience a two-day delay, with pickup rescheduled for Saturday, November 30, 2024.
In addition to the changes in trash and garbage pickup, all recycling stations, including the Wood Waste Facility and the Nelson Ball Field (Alma Lane), will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Normal hours of operation will resume on Friday, November 29, 2024.
The city reminds residents that containers and other items for removal should be placed at the curb before 7 a.m. on collection day or on the evening preceding collection day. Containers should be removed no later than 7 p.m. on the day of collection. Homeowners, occupants, and tenants are also responsible for collecting any spillage from containers.
The Department of Public Works and other city departments, including Lake Charles City Hall, will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2024, and Friday, November 29, 2024, in observance of Thanksgiving. Regular hours of operation will resume on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and make necessary arrangements for trash and garbage disposal during the holiday.
