City of Lake Charles Announces Christmas 2022 Events
On October 2, 2022, the City of Lake Charles announced several Christmas events going on in the coming weeks.
The annual Light up the Lake Christmas Celebration will take place on Saturday, November 26.
The Arts and Humanities Council of SWLA will hold a Holiday Art Walk Downtown beginning at 11 a.m. this year. to 3 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., the festivities will relocate to the grounds of the Lake Charles Civic Center with a lakefront Christmas concert, lighting ceremony, and fireworks display. The presenting sponsors for this year’s events are Lake Charles Toyota, Entergy, Visit Lake Charles, and McNeese Banners Series.
The Girl Scouts of Louisiana Pines to the Gulf continue a decade-long tradition of Christmas caroling when they kick off festivities at the Arcade Memorial Pavilion Amphitheater. Food trucks, hot cocoa, Christmas snacks, and reindeer games will cover the grounds of the Civic Center and stretch along Bord du Lac Drive. Rory Partin and His Big Band will take the stage at 4 p.m. This 23-piece band is assured to get the crowd in the holiday spirit.
Gather around Millennium Park for the city’s first-ever park lighting ceremony. Mayor Nic Hunter will be joined by a special visitor to turn the switch at 5:45 p.m. Simultaneously, the entire grounds of the Civic Center will come to life with a magnificent lighting display. Make sure to check out the crowd-pleaser “12 Days of Christmas” exhibit, as well as various new installations.
Tune up to KBYS 88.3 FM McNeese Radio at 6:45 p.m. for music as the fireworks display lights up the lake.
The City of Lake Charles will host Christmas activities in the Historic City Hall Arts and Cultural Center, 1001 Ryan Street, throughout the month of December. On December 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a festive edition of Meet Me at the Market will be hosted. to 1 p.m. It will include caroling, dancing, live music, and a Christmas card craft. Saturday craft workshops will be led by Black Heritage Gallery Curator Jeanine Blaney at 10 a.m. weekly. The children’s reading program “Turning Pages” will return at 11 a.m. Ward 3 Marshal Nathan Keller will kick off the series on December 3rd.
In addition, Millennium Park will have special, extended hours over the holiday season to allow youngsters to see this Winter Wonderland of Christmas lights. Beginning Friday, December 2, the park will be open until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights Starting December 4, the park will be open until 8 p.m. on Sundays.
