The City of Lake Charles has announced the plans for Halloween festivities for the month of October 2023.

2023 Howl-O-Ween Doggie Dress-Up Day in Lake Charles

Head over to Bark du Lac Park (111 West Pine St.) for a fun, pet-centered event on Saturday, October 14, between 10 a.m. and noon. The City is collaborating with Gill Bright Animal Hospital via its Partners in Parks initiative to host their second annual Howl-O-Ween Doggie Dress-Up Day - a guaranteed enjoyable and slightly spooky affair.

Dog owners and their pets are encouraged to dress up in their finest Halloween attire and participate in a competition for prizes.

It's required for all dogs to be up-to-date on their vaccinations, they should be brought in on a leash, not exhibit aggressive behavior and should not be in heat. The responsibility for cleaning up after their dogs is on the pet owners.

Lake Charles Boo-Tastic Bash 2023

The City of Lake Charles will team up with Prien Lake Mall, Vexus Fiber, and Healthy Blue to ensure a safe Halloween experience for all families on Tuesday, October 31.

The Boo-Tastic Bash invites children to participate in a mall-wide trick-or-treat event, from 5-7 p.m. Kids are encouraged to dress up in their costumes and explore the mall and its shops for candy, while stocks last.

The Department of Recreation and Parks in the city will be supplying games for the Harvest Fest.

The Boo-Tastic Bash will be held at Prien Lake Mall, situated at 496 E. Prien Lake Road, and is complimentary and accessible to everyone. However, toy weapons are prohibited and costume masks are only permitted during trick-or-tricking.

The City recommends that all trick-or-treating activities conclude by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31. It is suggested that parents ensure their children are back home by 8:30 p.m., unless they are participating in a function supervised and organized by other parents or community groups.
