Lake Charles, Louisiana – On Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, in partnership with CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area Hospital and Louisiana State Police Troop D, will offer complimentary child passenger safety seat checks in Lake Charles. This event will coincide with the Children’s Miracle Network Family Day and NICU Reunion at CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area Hospital at 4200 Nelson Road in Lake Charles from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Trained child passenger safety technicians will carry out inspections and help with the correct installation of child safety seats.

Child safety seats and booster seats are effective in preventing injuries and even saving lives when correctly utilized. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these restraints have been responsible for saving over 11,000 young lives since 1975. Caregivers must consistently ensure that children are securely fastened in the appropriate seat or belt during every car journey to maximize their safety.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission has offered assistance for this occasion.

If you can’t go in person, you can book an appointment with the Louisiana State Police Troop D to have your child safety seat inspected. Just call 337-491-2466 or check out www.facebook.com/BuckleUpLouisiana for other places in Louisiana where you can get your seat checked.
