Child Struck by Vehicle in Sulphur While Getting on School Bus

A child boarding a Calcasieu Parish school bus in Sulphur has been struck by a vehicle.
From Sulphur Police Department – Sulphur Police are currently investigating a vehicle-pedestrian crash on East Burton Street near West Mimosa. A child was struck by a vehicle while loading the school bus. The child was transported to a local hospital. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.
Traffic is being detoured around the scene so please avoid the area for at least an hour.
From the Calcasieu Parish School Board – Earlier this morning, one of our students was struck by a vehicle while attempting to load a school bus. This is obviously a very difficult time, and our hearts are with our student and all families involved. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is always a number one priority, and these situations affect all of us.
As this is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Sulphur Police Department, we will not be releasing additional information at this time.
