Cameron Parish, Louisiana – Get ready for a Louisiana festival filled with thrilling events and activities at the upcoming Cameron Fur Festival 2024. From January 12th to January 13th, locals and visitors will gather in Cameron, Louisiana, to celebrate the region’s rich fur and wildlife heritage.
The festival is located at 122 Recreation Lane, in Cameron, Louisiana.
Kicking off the festivities on Friday, January 12th, the festival grounds will open at 12:00 p.m. Attendees can explore the carnival, browse through craft booths, and savor delicious food offerings. With an admission fee of $5.00, or a $15.00 weekend pass, this is an event the whole family can enjoy. Children aged 12 and under can enter for free.
As the sun sets, prepare to be entertained by the live performance of “Under the Influence” from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The carnival, craft booths, and food stalls will close at 10:00 p.m., giving everyone a chance to rest up for the excitement that awaits on Saturday.
Saturday, January 13th, will begin bright and early with the gates opening at 6:30 a.m. for the highly-anticipated Gumbo Cook-Off. As the aroma of simmering gumbo fills the air, participants will compete for the title of the best gumbo. Meanwhile, the Fur Festival 5k Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk will take place, with late registration starting at 7:00 a.m.
At 8:00 a.m., runners and walkers will take to the streets of Cameron, showcasing their endurance and enthusiasm for the event. The gates will open at 9:00 a.m., offering access to the carnival, craft booths, and delectable food options. Admission for the day is $10.00 per person, and children aged 12 and under can enter for free.
For those with a passion for history and vehicles, the Antique Vehicles Showcase will be a treat. From 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., attendees can marvel at these classic automobiles, free of charge. Additionally, the Trap Shooting Competition and Quail Flush will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing a thrilling display of skill and accuracy.
Youngsters will have a chance to join in on the fun with the Kids Master Oyster Race at 10:00 a.m. Children aged 6-8 and 9-11 will compete in separate groups, showcasing their speed and agility. Meanwhile, a variety of competitions, including Oyster Shucking, Nutria Skinning, and Trap Setting, will be held at the stage area from 10:30 a.m. onwards.
The highlight of the day will be the much-anticipated parade, which will take place at 1:00 p.m. in downtown Cameron. Spectators can expect a colorful display of floats, marching bands, and vibrant costumes. Following the parade, guests can enjoy live entertainment by Travis Matte & The King Pins from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
If you have a talent for duck and goose calling, be sure to register at the Cameron Port Office at 3:00 p.m. for the Duck and Goose Calling Competition, which will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Excitement will build as participants showcase their skills in front of a captivated audience.
As the sun sets, the stage area will come alive with music by Jamie Bergeron & The Kickin’ Cajuns from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the presentation of Festival Royalty, the Maryland Delegation, and Festival Officials at 7:00 p.m. The evening will conclude with a lively performance by Steel Shot from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
With the close of the festival at 10:30 p.m., attendees bid farewell to the Cameron Fur Festival 2024, eagerly awaiting its return in 2025. This year’s festival promises to be a memorable celebration of Cameron Parish’s fur and wildlife heritage, offering something for everyone.
