Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – After a three-year journey, Ward Six Fire Protection District One has finally completed its hurricane recovery efforts, marking a significant milestone for the community. The district’s facilities, including Station 3, were severely damaged during Hurricane Laura in August 2020 and further affected by Hurricane Delta just six weeks later.
The road to recovery was not an easy one. The district faced the daunting task of drafting repair plans, seeking competitive quotes, and working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and insurance providers. However, through perseverance and dedication, the repairs were completed in a timely manner, ensuring that the district could continue to provide essential emergency response services to the community.

On June 27, 2024, the district celebrated the completion of its hurricane recovery efforts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:00 pm. The event marked the official reopening of Station 3, which was rebuilt after being deemed unsafe by the US Corps of Engineers.
