Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana - The 2024 budget proposal was presented to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Budget Committee during their meeting on November 16. Parish Administrator Bryan Beam informed the Jurors that the proposed budget for 2024 outlines total expenditures of $356 million, marking a 16 percent decrease from the previous year. This reduction is primarily attributed to the discontinuation of Federal Recovery funds from the 2020 hurricanes in 2023.

Notable projects slated for 2024 include the Carlyss Drive Extension, Johnny Breaux Road Extension, and Phase Two of the Ham Reid Road Extension.

The public comment period for the proposed 2024 budget will remain open until December 14, with a public hearing scheduled by the Budget Committee during their meeting on November 30. Final approval is anticipated to take place at the Police Jury's Regular Meeting on December 14, 2023.
