St. Landry Parish, Louisiana — A Sulphur High School special education teacher has now been charged with eight counts of attempted first-degree murder following a violent domestic incident that left a six-year-old child hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, officials confirmed.
Patrick Seth Greene, 37, of Opelousas, Louisiana, remains in custody following his arrest on June 1, 2025, in connection with a stabbing incident in the Leonville area. The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance at a residence on Highway 31. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a six-year-old child suffering from multiple lacerations and stab wounds to the face, neck, and chest.
According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, Greene was combative with officers at the scene and was ultimately taken into custody after a brief struggle. The child was initially transported to Opelousas General Hospital before being airlifted to a Baton Rouge facility for advanced care due to the severity of his injuries.
Greene, who is currently on administrative leave from the Calcasieu Parish School Board, is accused not only of injuring his stepson, a young cancer survivor, but also of severely beating the boy’s mother during the incident. Deputies report that Greene also resisted arrest, further complicating the situation.
In addition to the initial charges of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, two counts of aggravated assault, and resisting an officer, authorities have now added eight counts of attempted first-degree murder. Law enforcement officials explained that attempted first-degree murder involves intentionally trying to kill another person, even if the attempt is unsuccessful.
A judge has ordered Greene held without bail until a hearing scheduled under Gwen’s Law, which allows courts to detain suspects accused of domestic violence in order to protect alleged victims. Protective orders have been issued for the victim’s mother and siblings.
The investigation remains ongoing, with detectives actively gathering evidence and preparing for additional charges. Officials have encouraged anyone with information about the case to contact the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-948-6516 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
