Published January 6, 2021
From the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury – The two Calcasieu Parish Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers will begin allowing trailers onsite beginning Thursday, Jan. 7. However, the sites, located at 2915 Post Oak Road in Sulphur and 5500 B Swift Plant Road in Lake Charles, are still not accepting any hurricane debris.
Until further notice, the centers will only accept household waste and items for recycling. The sites are for Calcasieu Parish residents only – residents must stop at the attendant’s booth and have their driver’s licenses scanned to verify residency.
The following restrictions will continue to be enforced:
- Hurricane and demolition debris are still not being accepted.
- No construction/demolition debris: This includes lumber, sheetrock, insulation, roofing material, siding, white goods and related items.
- No vegetation: Trees, tree limbs, stumps, plants, landscaping waste.
Calcasieu Parish’s debris contractor will continue collecting hurricane-generated debris for several weeks.
Employees will inspect all residents’ waste before they are allowed entry into the sites.
Both sites will be open 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. Thursday – Monday (they are closed Tuesday and Wednesday of each week).
