Lake Charles, Louisiana — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has issued a public statement clarifying recent changes and addressing rumors regarding the safety and security of its correctional facilities. The response comes after online accusations about the conditions inside the Calcasieu Correctional Center (CCC) and the Calcasieu Sheriff’s Prison (CSP), particularly following incidents involving contraband and a subsequent investigation.
Sheriff Guillory Emphasizes Safety and Transparency
Sheriff Stitch Guillory, who oversees Calcasieu Parish law enforcement, stated that the safety of both inmates and staff remains the department’s top priority. Guillory confirmed that several inmates, as well as deputies, experienced adverse reactions after narcotics were smuggled into the facility. The sheriff emphasized that such dangers prompted immediate action to prevent further harm.
Sheriff Guillory said, “We are running correctional facilities, not hotels. If you don’t want to be here or don’t like the way we operate, then don’t break the law. Some of these accusations being spread are flat-out lies, and we will not bend to pressure from individuals who do not know the full story of what goes on inside our facilities.”
Guillory added that the recent changes in the correctional center’s operation were the direct result of an ongoing investigation, which included the arrest of a former deputy suspected of being involved in the smuggling of illegal substances. He stressed that transparency and accountability remain central to the Sheriff’s Office mission.

Domingue noted that the restrictions were not permanent and are being adjusted as the situation evolves. The main goal, he explained, was to protect both inmates and staff, while minimizing the risk of further incidents involving contraband.
