Westlake, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred around 7 p.m. on May 27 on Lyons Avenue in Westlake, resulting in one individual being hospitalized and a suspect in custody.
Deputies responded after receiving a call regarding the gunfire. According to official reports, detectives learned that Devin A. Bryant, 32, of Westlake, Louisiana, allegedly discharged a firearm, striking a victim multiple times. The identity of the victim has not been released, but authorities confirmed that the individual was transported to a local hospital and underwent emergency surgery. The current condition of the victim has not been made public.
Law enforcement officials conducted interviews with several witnesses and Bryant himself as part of the ongoing investigation. After gathering evidence and statements, deputies arrested Bryant, who was later booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. At this time, Bryant faces several serious charges, including obstruction of justice, aggravated second-degree battery, aggravated assault with a firearm, and illegal discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.
